WorldPay Wins Best Card Processor Award at European Cards and Payments Awards 2013

WorldPay, a global leader in payment processing, today announced that it has been named 'Best Card Processor' for its approach to rolling out contactless infrastructure at the prestigious European Cards and Payments Awards 2013.

WorldPay's integration of contactless-enabled terminals into existing point of sale equipment for its largest corporate customers has seen a massive uplift in the number of UK payments processed, with a 600 per cent increase in transactions.

Driven largely by the roll out of contactless terminals in some of the UK's biggest merchants, WorldPay also saw an 800 per cent increase in transaction values from January-December 2012.

The benefits of contactless for retailers are considerable - merchants can take payments more quickly, deliver better customer service and reduce waiting times - essential in high volume retail environments. And as most contactless transactions replace cash, retailers can reduce cash handling costs and provide more hygienic environments.

Darren Wilson, Managing Director of Streamline, the face to face division of WorldPay, comments: "WorldPay works hard to help our customers stay at the industry forefront, encouraging them to look at emerging trends, like contactless, and implement long-term strategies that will allow them to continue to accept payments in the way their customers wish to pay.

Winning this award is a fantastic achievement for us and highlights our focus on helping merchants balance changing consumer expectations with getting greater returns on their payment system investment. Industry accolades ensure we are recognised as an efficient and supportive payments processor."

The winners were announced on 15th May at an award ceremony in London attended by professionals from across the payments industry.
