myDoorman is delivery service designed to bring the package to the user at their own convenience. The idea behind myDoorman came from former Pixar technical director Zander Adell, after being frustrated from not being home when deliveries of purchases he made online came to his door. Being inspired by cab and black-car hailing service Uber, he and co-founder Kapil Israni began development on myDoorman.

“I was completely obsessed with Uber, and used it all the time and one day, I missed a package delivery, like I always did, because I lived in San Francisco and I remember being furious, thinking ‘why doesn’t this work like Uber? Why can’t I just hit a button and it comes to me when I want it to come?’” said Adell.

After signing up to myDoorman, the user receives an alternate shipping address in their neighborhood to enter for online purchases. The new address can be entered when making an online purchase. After the package is delivered, a message is sent to the customer, leaving them simply to press a button on an app to have the package shipped when at home. Customers can also schedule a delivery for another time or date at their own convenience through the app. myDoorman provides deliveries 7 days a week between 6:00pm and midnight, hours you are most likely to be home.

The service began their beta-testing period in March 2013, and has advanced from an SMS based platform to a fully-fledged mobile application available for both iOS and Android.
