SIX Payment Services, the Payments arm of SIX Swiss Exchange Group, has appointed Andrej Eichler as its newest Head of Financial Industry Services, according to a SIX statement.

Mr. Eichler joins SIX after nearly two decades of experience in the payments and technologies industry, namely relegated to the banking realm. His appointment is effective immediately and in his new role as the Head of Financial Industry Services, he will be reporting directly to SIX’s Division CEO of SIX Payment Services, Urs Rüegsegger.

Mr. Eichler will be tasked with overseeing and fostering SIX’s sales and developing relationships with banks, issuers, acquirers, network operators, and other entities in the markets which SIX operates in: Switzerland, throughout central and Eastern Europe.

He joins SIX after serving most recently as the CEO of EGCP, part of Erste Bank Group. Additional stops include FIDUCIA IT AG and GZS, having held a number of senior level roles.

According to Urs Rüegsegger, CEO SIX, in a recent statement on the appointment, “Andrej Eichler’s experience speaks for itself and we are happy to welcome him to SIX Payment Services. He has a proven track record and his international mind set will further enhance our positioning in the heart of the payments industry.”

Back in April, Christian Katz, the Division CEO of Swiss Exchange, opted to part ways with SIX following a mounting divergence in the strategic direction of the organization.

SIX Swiss Exchange is Switzerland's paramount stock exchange – the exchange also trades in securities and fixed income such as Swiss government bonds and derivatives. In addition, SIX Swiss Exchange is also joint owner of Eurex, the futures and derivatives behemoth, along with their German Affiliates , Deutsche Börse.
