GFT Launches Mobile Trading APP for Kindle Fire

After Wednesday’s launch of a Chrome browser trading extension from OANDA, innovation continues with the release of a Kindle trading APP from GFT Markets. The new app will be available for download on October 25th which is the scheduled release of the new Kindle Fire tablet from Amazon in the UK (the tablet is currently available in the US).

Overall, the announcement shows the importance of mobile trading for brokers and especially for the larger screen tablet market. Although the Kindle Fire operates on the Android OS, the Google Play Store is not readably available on the device as users need to download apps from Amazon’s own APP store (although some users are hacking the tablet to access Google Play). Developers planning on marketing their products to Kindle Fire users need to create Kindle specific apps for the Amazon APP store. As such, many products that are available on the iPhone or Android devices are not available for the Kindle Fire. Therefore, the arrival of GFT Markets trading app reveals their belief in the overall penetration of the tablet among their existing and potential customers. Going forward, it will be interesting to see how quickly other brokers follow suit to create their own APPs for the Kindle marketplace.

GFT Markets launches Kindle App for CFDs and spread betting

October 12th – GFT Markets, the global provider of retail derivatives, has announced that its award winning DealBook® trading platform will be available to download for the Kindle Fire to coincide with the tablet’s UK launch on October 25th. Designed with speed, performance and reliability as key attributes, this native Android application will give clients yet another option for accessing their accounts and placing trades whilst on the move.

Martin Slaney, Director of Global Product Management at GFT Markets, commented:

“Given the popularity of the iPad app that we launched at the start of the year and the success of the range of mobile applications that preceded it, there’s no debating the fact that our clients want to be able to trade wherever they are and whenever they want. The Kindle Fire has seen phenomenal uptake in the U.S. even as the battle for high quality, cost-effective tablets picks up and we are sure this will be repeated in the UK, especially with the HD version where the user interface is incredibly sharp.”

All GFT Markets clients can log into DealBook using their Kindle by simply entering their existing account details and password. Live markets news and a full range of charting options, plus the ability to overlay key technical indicators is also available. The application can be downloaded from the Kindle Store.
