Metaquotes warns and sues providers that hack its protocols

Metaquotes is already going after several providers who it believes hacked its protocols and now it issued an official statement to its clients that it will soon stop supporting the hacked protocols. Metaquotes is doing that because “our technologies are unlawfully used by some third-party developers who directly hack network protocols between MetaTrader 4 Server and client terminals in order to sell their solutions.”

Metaquotes is trying to patch these loopholes but it’s possible that those providers that hack these protocols will always find another way, but time will tell.

In any case, Metaquotes is suing at least one major provider and a court hearing has been scheduled in about two weeks in Cyprus. We are yet to obtain the official confirmation or the legal documents of the case.

MT should allow connect to their server with license fee model and gain:
    1. dramatic expansion of their solution over the community
    2. more revenues

Unlike some other mobile trading tools and platforms, Forex On The Go’s technology does not utilize any network protocol hacks to provide client trading through MetaTrader 4.

To stop the use of network protocol hacks MetaQuotes has released an updated client terminal and announced that starting June 1st, 2012 builds lower than 416 will not be supported. The Forex On The Go technology has already been verified to be compatible with the latest build, and because it uses only standard methods, it will continue to function as normal.

In 2009 Forex On The Go developed the first Forex trading platform for the iPhone. Currently “Forex On The Go Lite” is the most popular Forex application available in the iTunes App Store. We are committed to offering highly secure and reliable mobile trading platforms for the iPhone, Android and Blackberry, and have been a trusted provider of our white labels platforms to leading brokers around the world.

Forex On The Go is a US based company and strictly regulated by the NFA. Our servers are housed at secure facilities with SAS70 security certifications and all trading activities are performed over encrypted SSL connections. Trade commands are handled digitally and automatically, without any human interaction from us, and we do not store any user login credentials.

We applaud MetaQuotes Software Corp on taking action to close security holes in its network protocols, and are proud to be a provider of trading tools which promote the usage of the MT4 platform.

you need to separate the two things: whatever can be done with metatrader can be done with all other platforms as well, in this sense they are no different from any other. it’s up to the operator (broker) to abuse what’s available.
